Lieutenant Korey Rounds has been with the Cumberland Police Department since 2001 and he is a 1999 graduate of Wor-Wic Community College - Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy. He also attended the Criminal Justice program at Allegany College of MD.  Lt. Rounds has been in law enforcement since 1997 starting his law enforcement career in the State of West Virginia, before joining the Frostburg Police Department in 1999 as a Patrol Officer. In 2001, Lt. Rounds was hired by the Cumberland Police Department where he worked two years as a Patrolman before being promoted to the rank of Corporal, and then Sergeant where he worked as a patrol division squad commander. 

Lt. Rounds is a certified patrol bicycle operator. He is also a certified crisis negotiator after completing the FBI negotiator’s course and is assigned to the Allegany/Garrett joint Crisis Negotiators team. He was a previous K9 handler with the department until 2017 and was the operations supervisor for that unit.  Lt. Rounds is currently assigned as the Patrol Commander and SRO supervisor. Lt. Rounds also is the administrative supervisor for the crisis negotiators and the K9 unit.  Lt. Rounds was previously selected as the Officer of the year in 2003. He has also won the State of Maryland Highway Safety Award for most DUI arrests within the department nine times during his career.
